From their beginnings in Ohio, to now, a world wide Loudspeaker top tier brand that makes simply outstanding loudspeakers, with unheard build quality, advanced audio engineering, yet quite reasonable prices. In subwoofers they offer two, even three versions at different size and price levels.
SVS sub come in sealed box versions, ported box and there even an in wall powered sub, and a very unusual cylindrical sub tower.
Most all subs offered by other brands are ported box, also called bass reflex designs. The bass reflex harnesses the rear wave and create a more powful bass sound. However, the transient detail is not quite as tight and there are two resonance frequencies. The sealed box has better transients... fast response and a smoother rolloff.
The SVS SB-1000 Pro is SVS's least expensive powered subwoofer.
Quite frankly, it is an outstanding value.
Compared to almost all other powered subs in its price range $599, it has a high quality 12 inch driver. This woofer is a high excursion with new advances to the cone material, the voice coil and the magnet motor. It is housed is a 13.5 by 13 inch by 14 3/4 in cabinet. And it makes bass.
Again, unlike most the competition the advertise exaggerated amp power for their subwoofer amps. The SB-1000 Pro is conservatively rated 325 watts RMS (820 watts peak) and uses a Power Sledge STA-3250 SVS amp with full discrete (not IC modules) MOSFET output transistors. A DSP processor operating at 50 MHz allows adjustment of crossover frequency, parametric EQ and room gain. SVS has a smartphone app that lets you make these adjustments from your listening chair. You don't have to bend down and adjust from behind the sub.
The SB1000 Pro is $599 in black ash, $699 is hand rubbed real piano gloss black and gloss white.
The SVS PB-1000 Pro is $799 in black ash. As we said the ported, bass reflex design comes a little lower in deep frequency response, 17 Hz, and has a fuller bass. The cabinet is 18.9 in high, 15 in wide and 20 in deep.
The SVS SB-2000 Pro is $899 in black ash. Class D switching 25 amp 600 volt MOSFETwith 550 watts rms and 1500 watt peak. PB-2000 Pro shown on right is $1099.
The SVS SB-3000 is $1099 It has a 13 inch woofer and 800 watt rms amp, 2500 watt peak power. 25 pound dual toroidal magnet. PB-3000 ported is $1599.
SVS Micro-3000 is $899. Only 10 inches square amazing bass is produce by this, almost tiny, subwoofer. It uses two opposing 8 inch SVS woofer drivers. They move in parallel for amazing slam and push.
The SVS SB-4000 is $1799  has a 13.5 inch wooer and 1200 watt rms amp, 4000 watt peak power. SVS claims low frequency response down to 13 Hz. PB-4000 ported is $2299.
SVS PBUltra 16. $2299 Using fully discrete MOSFET output transistors the amps is rated 1500 watt rms and 5000 peak! It is named Ultra 16 because it has a 16 inch woofer. SB-Ultra16 ported is $2899.
