The next generation of Pioneer Elite flat panel plasma displays ...

possibly the best HD television ever made

Introducing KURO by Pioneer Elite

Pioneer Elite. Pioneer made the first high quality monitor projection TV back in 1987. Pioneer went on to introduce LaserDisc, Dolby surround, the world's first DVD and the first high definition plasma TV.

What's the Difference Between LCD and Plasma? LCD TVs stop the light from passing through them. Plasma creates the light. When you create something you have better control, so Pioneer is able to create outstanding High Definition.

What's Better About Pioneer? Pioneer uses a patented Deep Encased Cell Structure that holds more gas, so each pixel can give off more light for a brighter picture.

What About Black? Pioneer Elite plasmas have the highest contrast, increasing apparent sharpness, and Pioneer Elite has the best black level of any TV. Pioneer has a patented black stripe technology and special filters embedded in the glass that make the Pioneer Elite the easiest TV to view in a bright room.

What is Home Media Gallery? Pioneer leads the way again, with a built-in ethernet port that sees and controls still pictures, music and hi def video on your computer's hard drive.

What About Longevity? Pioneer says the life expectancy of these Elite plasmas is up to 20* years. Is that long enough?

What About Burn-in? It can happen, but Pioneer's high tech video circuitry, not only has the highest quality picture, but minimizes the chance of burn-in. (Picture tube TVs can burn in too, but that never was a problem either.) We have never had a plasma burn-in.

What About Refilling the Gas? Plasmas don't leak and can't be refilled. And we have never had a pixel go out either.

What About Warranty? Pioneer Elite has two years parts and labor. Alterman Audio doubles that to Four Years!

As price competition forces more and more price drops in flat panel TV pricing, both LCD and plasma, economy of production is not enough to make up for the lower sales prices.

Pioneer has decided to do the opposite. Raise the bar. Increase the quality. Improve the picture. Make it easier to use. And even improve the sound, after all, not everyone chooses to watch the news with a full blown surround sound system.

Pioneer is now introducing their 8th generation plasmas, but these new sets are so entirely new, not just another generation, but a new achievement in design and engineering, they have come up with a new name... "KURO" which simply means black in Japanese.

Pioneer started within the tiny cell structure, the pixel, that creates the light. A new cell structure was engineered. Key to this design was the ability to produce zero light... black when there is black.

Some brands claim contrast ratios of 7000:1 with non standardized specs. Pioneer is claiming, very conservatively and contrast ratio of 30,000 to 1.

Check out the best LCDs and even Pioneer's own Elite plasmas which are known for their excellent black levels. In a dark room you still see a gray background. In normal light this gray background creates a veil or haze over the picture. Like a dirty window. The new Pioneer Elite Kuro eliminates this veil, leaving a true, looking through the window effect. But, not only is the window clean, but the glass is gone. There is nothing between you and the picture.

Pioneer didn't stop there. Digital television is really a series of standards. You've heard of 720p and 1080i and 1080p. Different broadcasts have different numbers of transmitted pixels. Satellite is different from broadcast. Standard definition is different from HD. DVD and the the new Blu-ray discs again offer different standards.

Pioneer has created advanced digital processing chips to handle all these situations. These chips are of the most advanced digital processing available today for the the most detailed pictures.

Pioneer showed us a simple video of a car. The picture did not fill the screen, but the car was shown going across the screen. The video was paused and in High

Definition, paused you can clearly read the numbers on the license plate. Let the video play the the numbers were a blur. This demonstration was done on Pioneer's, top rated "product of the year" PROFHD1 1080p plasma and some top quality other name brand flat panel TVs.

On the new Kuro Pioneer Elite plasma TVs the video processing was so far advanced that the license plate numbers were clear, vivid and totally readable as the car drove across the screen.

The black levels were demonstrated in a totally dark room with fireworks on the screen. The pin like fireworks were sharp and vivid, but you could not tell where the edge o the screen ended and the dark black bezel of the TV began.

Pioneer is an audio company known for innovative audio designs since 1938. Pioneer used audio only designs and redesigned the audio amplifiers, the ground bus, and the speakers of these new plasma TVs to improve the sound.

And now, Pioneer introduces the second generation Kuro. These new sets that arrived in July 2008 have five times better contrast level.
